Beirut Summer School For Theater & Performance

العربية

About

“Beirut Summer School for Theater & performance” is a school that involves a series of theater and performance workshops conducted by renowned theater and performance artists in Lebanon, sharing their perspectives and experiences within their own practices. It includes workshops in Acting, Directing, Dance, Improvisation, Light Design, Scenography, Costumes Design, and writing about theater. It is important to mention that Beirut Summer School For Theater & Performance is not a school in the traditional meaning of the word as it does not assume a classical academic approach. It views and deals with participants as colleagues rather than students, and the ones making the workshops as conductors rather than teachers. This school is founded and curated by alaa minawi.
Beirut Summer School for the summer of 2021 is supported by Studio Laban and Houna Center by offering their spaces and with the logistical support.
Team members:
alaa minawi - Founder & Program Director
Gerorges Aboud - Coordinator
Raya Abou Khair - Coordinator

Who can join

Theater and performance arts students in their last years of study, fresh graduates, and young professional practitioners are the main targeted group. Individuals who have been around the theater and performance arts field and would like to be exposed to different perspectives in the arts are welcome to join. The school is also open to any participants who have less prior experience in theater but quite interested in the subject matter.
